I am here on my holybobs and having a great time drinking and eating whateve we want, the reason we can do this is simple.   Training on holiday.....

In my job I see countless people training to get in shape for their holidays, mostly too late and having to starve themselves in order to get that holiday figure. (Not good starving yourselves guys)
Some of them get to their goals, weight and fitness - most don't.  Most people come back after their holidays having put loads of weight on and then procrastinating for a week or two before getting back to exercise or eating well.

This is a constant cycle for most with yo yo dieting and training, as there is always something to train and diet for........

The summer
Holidays
Pre and post Christmas
and loads more....

The crazy thing is you don't have to beating yourselves up and going up and down in this manner....... Just build a habit to constantly train at home and then TRAIN ON HOLIDAY.

Most people switch of at this point, please bare with me, myself and the long suffering partner Helen train nearly every day on holiday and still have an amazing time.  People that know us will tell you we love a drink, I jokingly say Helen has more wine than blood in her body and I am an ex soldier so drink is important.

Honestly we eat and drink loads on holiday and go back to UK in a no worse state than leaving, firstly I will explain the benefits and then outline what we do.

THE BENEFITS

Learning the resort better than anybody else, we go out for the odd jog or hire a mountain bike and get to know every inch of the resort including finding short cuts and more importantly all the best bars and restaurants.

We can feel happy in the knowledge that we can eat and drink loads without putting on too much beef as we have burned calories every day with exercise.

Forget hangovers we feel absolutely amazing every day, that feeling you get after exercise is awesome.  We feel a million dollars and strut around like peacocks, food and drink even taste better.

Because we either train before breakfast or lunch when we eat we are in the GOLDEN HOUR this just means more or the carbs are used to replace lost energy and more of the protein is absorbed and utilised in muscle repair.  Less calories being stored as fat = result.

Training on holiday totally removes the issue of getting back home and dreading the first session back and then putting it off for another week, we just keep training.

If tanning is your bag, when you do exercise and are sweating you get an absolute fabulous tan without having to spend hours working on it laying by the pool.

For ladies by day 5-7 you may feel bloated and noticing your clothes not fitting a so well, if you exercise on most of the days this bloating just doesn't happen-result.  For guys this works the same, you will keep your shape.

You can utilise the sun, terrain, sea and altitude for amazing training, after all athletes use these resorts for off season training.

WHAT WE DO - ITS SO SIMPLE AND FUN

We try and do exercise every morning before our massive all inclusive breakfast, it's a bit cooler and a great to explore at this time.  If we miss breakfast we will try and do something before lunch( doing exercise before meals uses the golden hour amazingly).

We might hire a bike or do some sort of physical activity in the AM wether it is swimming, tennis or a good walk.

What you can do:

1. Running, it's free and great for learning your resort.  I will always do body weight exercises during my runs like press ups.
2. Circuit, try and build a 10 min or bigger circuit concentrating on big exercises like press ups and burpees, this wil keep you trim.
3. Metafit on the beach or on your balcony, by know you should know someone who can give you some metafit workouts, doing these every morning will give you a better holiday and you will probably come back even fitter than when you left. ( less than 20 mins work)
4. Long walks or cycling, not as effective as the first three but still a good calorie burner.

So there we have it, it's pretty simple really....exercise on holiday is amazing.
If you are still saying that, I go on holiday to relax......firstly wake up and smell the coffee and secondly it's so relaxing knowing you can eat and drink what you want and that when you get home you will stillbe fit.

If there are grammar issues or spelling mistakes please take into consideration I am on beer 5 and blogging on my IPad in a pub in Lanzarote.

Good Luck and enjoy your holidays folks

want some PT.?

i am back soon
