A bit about your coach - Glenn Hill

Picture

I come from the North East went to 13 different schools, moved around loads and never actually finished education “as such”.
I joined the British Army as an Engineer but soon realised that fitness, adventure and the countryside was my bag.

After 20 years service I had completed all the army courses that I wanted including Army Diver(Frogman), Fitness Instructors and P Coy Para Course coming top at most including “champion para” on P coy.  Just before I left the forces I was in a vehicle blown up by  a road side bomb on new years eve in Afghanistans’ Helmand Province, injuring my neck.

I am also a keen sportsman, I just dabble nowadays in half Marathons and Tough Mudders etc.   In my 20s I competed in a number of events such as the Berlin Marathon, Biel 100km twice, Paderborn Triathlon, Army slalom kayak, Megavalache (worlds' longest downhill race),  Army indoor climbing competition(Hull) and Biathlon championships in Serre Chevalier.  For around 10 years I  competetively took part in cross country running, athletics at 1500m, Steeplechase, High jump and Long Jump.

Since leaving the forces I have focussed on education to ensure my service cannot be beaten locally.
I currently work out of Pulse Gym in Durham, I am also available for extra work in Movies, I had the fortune of being an Extra in a huge Blockbuster movie (part of a trilogy) Star wars the Last Jedi as a rebel soldier.

After being dissillusioned with the PT industry and the brash fake statements & credentials of other local coaches I took a year out.  Back now concentrating on holistic coaching and outdoor exercise.

I also spend time advising/mentoring other less experienced Personal Trainers and run the North East Facebook Personal Trainer page.

My Values

Its really about being a decent human being and doing the best you can for other people, hey these I have learnt and developed, I wasn’t always a nice guy lol.   I Honestly dont hate anyone now, even after being conned out of a busines for a fortune, bullied on social media and in the Army as young lad, this might seem alien to some people, if you hold hatred toward anyone the only person who we damage is ourselves. (damage caused in the head also manifests itself as real physical damage to our body)

So here we go:

Integrity:
Or  being honest, is probably the most important thing in a job and even with my tribe.  How can you be credible if you are a liar, I am forever honest to my clients, gym members and friends(my tribe).  Because there are so many blatant lies regarding food, fitness and health you just need honesty sometimes.

Enthusiasm:
Life certainly is tough and it can sometimes be hard to keep your morale up, I will always show a genuine liking for what I do because helping people is genuinely great.  Enthusiasm breeds enthusiasm after all.

Respect for others:
Putting others ahead of yourself is awesome, everybody deserves respect redardless of any issue.  I dont believe the misconception that overweight people are lazy, they may just need some honest advice (integrity) or a little help and guidance.

Giving extra:
Personal training is a job and some people treat it as such, I believe in giving my all to ensure my clients meet goals and change their lives for better and for good. This is why I have personally spent thousands on my own knowledge including nutrition courses, Neuro Linguistic Programming Practitioner, BodyMap coach, Sports Massage, Applied Movement Neurology, Website building, marketing  and Crossfit.  I have ensured I can give extra, give more than my competitors.

Teamwork:
We are much stronger as a team and can achieve so more than the sum total of our individual efforts.  My clients, my tribe are a team and thats how and why we achieve more than the rest.
