I felt as though as its time to talk about this..
- A lady was in a small rapidly expanding Company and doing her very technical job very well, then the Manager employed his friend who wanted to Rapidly advance. He tells everyone how bad she is, constant little passive aggressive remarks in general gossip (which are always logged by the management, even subconsciously ). When he talked to her he was always above her (power position), groin by her head etc. They would joke that she was not good enough at her job. Basically tortured her! We are a sum total of what other people tell us and what we tell ourselves, because of what he/they said she lost all confidence and became what they said (not good). This isnt her being weak or not good at her job, its a classic example of behaviour change due to constant negative feedback. (An example about feedback loop) ; years ago I was on a coaching course in Canoe Sport. I gave an exceptionally proficient kayaker all negative feedback for 10 minutes, after this he became terrible at the skill he was trying. Imagine negative feedback for months or years. (it achieves nothing).
- Another client left a small rapidly growing Company due to her management team using team gossip for actual performance grading (Bonkers). Not just that Managers constantly lying to work force about safety elements and then being found out. Putting money before safety during Covid etc. Her colleagues who did not mind cutting corners, working outside of safety parameters and who accepted being constantly lied to promoted above her. She had personal values of integrity, self discipline and safety which where not congruent to her Company, she was in the right but the Company had toxic values. This can sometimes push out quality and keep workers who are just desperate to work and who dont mind compromising their values. "she had to leave, working in a toxic non congruent job damages your health..physically and mentally"
- Another client had her partners medical health issues (privately mentioned to a director) broadcasted across the shop floor to everyone. When she complained about this to the Director in front of the all staff, she was loudly verbally reprimanded. Director wrong and trying to save face. After this, she felt embarrassed and lost all respect for the management, no longer loyal to the company.
"Do not worry it is not your fault, it is the managers lack of ability that creates these issues"
