However I know, because I am seeing and talking to rehab clients that some classes are still doing it wrong.
The proof is in the injured people who I see who have been injured in local classes.
- Spinal injuries
- Knee injuries
- Shoulder injuries
This is what I have experienced most, in terms of Injuries. "Mainly caused by weighted classes, using Barbells, Kettlebells and Olympic bars and stuff like Crossfit. This makes sense as any weakness in technique or form will always be highlighted when you add weight to the situation.
Honestly, from some one a little older and bolder with decades of experience in classes and exercise. its an easy fix...REALLY!
1)Training for correct technique before even throwing weights around. (Perfect Squat Technique!!!)
2) Enough instructors per participants
3)Instructors technique coaching everyone and not just the "Beautiful people" - still happens everywhere.
4) Instructors learning more than just how to run a basic class, Biomechanics, Strength & Conditioning, Olympic lifting, Kettlebells etc, great ways to be better for your clients.
5) A warm up tailored to the class, I am sure you have instructors that do the same warm up each time (WRONG)
6) Unweighted exercises before weighted in most cases
7) Asking questions (Participant) if you feel as though you dont know what your doing EVER when lifting, stop and ask for coaching
"Dont Presume Your Coach will keep you Safe _ Let Them Prove it to You"
- 3 years back now I was in a very busy gym watching a very popular PT who was so busy with clients, he looks the part "all muscles". His client was doing walking weighted lunges and the clients' knee movement was unbelievably bad - this is so dangerous and is happening all the time"
